Spirit of Space Companion
Spirit of Space is a video production house specializing in creating films on architecture and design projects around the globe. There work has become highly sought after by designers to the tell the story of their projects visually. Spirit of Space reached out to me to design a companion book series to coincide with their films. The book concept was based around showcasing graphically the content of each film.
Project Branding
the top left was selected because it highlighted the projects concept showing three valleys surrounded by the projects physical container. To make the cover more dynamic I looked through the image stills and selected a view from the courtyard framing the surrounding city.
When starting on this project I read through the transcripts Spirit of Space handed me to look for inspiration for the book. Each idea shown below is based off my impression of both the project's idea, the design itself and the branding of Spirit of Space. In the end a variation of the cover seen in
A Flexible Template
The client wanted to create a graphic story around the film showcasing the architect's process through the film transcript, quotes, and images. The body text of the book was based on Courier New to give the book a typewriter feeling similar to the font used in film scripts and quotes and images were added.
